Assignment on leadership
Leadership involves three key skills: creating a vision, gaining commitment to that vision, and monitoring progress toward achieving that vision. A leader must have the creativity to envision where an organization will go in the future. They must also be able to inspire others to commit to that vision. Finally, a leader oversees and manages the implementation of the vision to ensure objectives are met and deadlines are achieved. The document discusses these three skills, called the VCM model, and provides an example of how the author exhibits them as a leader. Read less

- 1. Assignment on Leadership Leadership includes three fundamental clusters of skills and availabilities: creating vision, garnering commitment to that vision, and monitoring and managing progress toward the realization of that vision. Vision – powerful leaders have a clear vision of where they want their organization to go. Vision is the view a person holds about what the organization will look like and do in the future. Some people have greater visions than others, and some have visions that extend further into the future than others. Vision is an essential part of leadership. Having a vision requires creativity; one must be able to think and see beyond the present timeframe and beyond the usual options, for example, Steve Jobs. Commitment – the ability to garner the commitment of others to one’s vision is a key cluster of leadership skills. A leader may have a vision of what an organization can become, but unless others receive and become committed to that vision, it is unlikely to be realized. Leaders can create visions, but commitment, on the other hand, is offered by followers. As a leader, I foster commitment in a variety of ways: weekly meetings, one-on- one interactions, involving others in the decision – making process, and by modeling commitment to an idea, to name a few. Monitoring and managing progress toward the vision – The third cluster of skills in leadership that we see is the ability to monitor and manage progress of the organization toward the vision. Management is a component of leadership. As a leader, ensuring that deadlines are met, objectives are achieved, and budgets are used appropriately are valuable and necessary leadership skills. Other people might not characterize me as a balanced VCM model just because I am relatively weak on creativity. I admit that I am not a genius as Steve Jobs but I do have vision for the team I lead and I stand firm on the vision. Overall, I am a balanced VCM model leader.

Giving and Receiving feedback and cultural intelligence and their importance to the development of self-awareness Giving and receiving feedback- Giving and receiving feedback is very important for the growth of professional life. Open communication can result to have a positive work culture where one can learn and grow and this goes both ways. Giving feedback is very important and it is also important to receive the feedback with an open mind and heart. The opinions and thoughts of others for ourselves would allow us to gain their perspective of our performance and work. This is attained by receiving and giving honest feedback. This helps in improving team productivity, personal growth and builds confidence (Succi & Canovi, 2020). To achieve self-awareness, it is important to examine own obstacles. The greater self- awareness can only be achieved if an individual listen to and accept the constructive condemnation. Active listening to others can help in gaining a more complete assessment of oneself. To seek feedback or a true opinion of our ability from trusted friends, colleagues, mentors, the family member can provide a clear understanding of one's capability and how they perceive in certain situations. By gathering feedback from others can help in analysing the behaviour patterns that were not realized earlier (Carleton et al., 2018). Thus, the viewpoint of others can help in gaining invaluable insights into one's communication style, emotions and mannerisms and how these are affecting other people. Cultural intelligence- Cultural intelligence helps in creating productive relationships based on giving importance to the differences of people and along with it also strengthen one sense of self. Cultural intelligence is a great way to develop self-awareness. It helps in communicating effectively in different cultural settings. Culture not only defines one's identity but also affects the ways people make communicate and interact with the world. By becoming more aware culturally in our daily lives, an individual can enjoy more meaningful interactions with others while solidification their sense of self. Self-awareness is being developed by an understanding of one's own cultural beliefs, values and attitudes. Cultural intelligence helps an individual to become more aware of own's culture because it enables them to have interactions with people from different cultural backgrounds (Henderson et al., 2018). Overview of the Floor manager in Deloitte Software Company I want to attain the position of floor manager in an IT software company like Deloitte. The information technology sector includes the firms that produce software, hardware or
equipment of semiconductors and companies that can provide internet or related services. Information technology at the global level encompasses the sectors of software, hardware, telecom and emerging tech that includes 'as-a-service' solutions under the Internet of things (IoT) umbrella and automating technologies. Deloitte is a leading provider of audit and assurance, financial advisory, consulting, tax- related services, risk advisory at the global level. Tens of thousands of dedicated professionals in independent firms collaborate under Deloitte across the world to provide above mentioned services. A floor manager supervises the general operations of a specific department in an organization. Floor managers are responsible to ensure that all requirements of the floor are met. One must have excellent interpersonal skills to be a floor manager with high organizational skills. The tasks of the floor manager include assisting the customers, distributing tasks to the staff, monitoring the performance of employees and ensuring to have the prompt resolution for the inquires of the clients. The floor manager at Deloitte will ensure the delegation of the work and ensure that the work is done effectively. The floor manager at Deloitte will also manage the floor tasks in such a manner that it can improve the quality, speed and also efficiency of the work that has been assigned. The floor manager will also ensure to provide the training to their employees so that they can perform effectively (Hegde & Jackson, 2019).
Importance of giving and receiving feedback, cultural intelligence, in succeeding as a floor manager- Self-awareness is a very important factor for succeeding as a floor manager because it provides the required base to have strong character, creates the ability for leading with goals, openness, authenticity and trust. Self-awareness explains the successes and failures as a manager while providing clear insights into our own's identity and what we require most from other people to have a successful team. Self-awareness also provides the leaders with the opportunity in identifying any gaps in their management skills and helps in revealing their effective areas and improvement areas (Rubens et al., 2018). Thus knowing things can help leaders to make discerning decisions and helps in increasing the effectiveness to positively motivate their staff. Giving and receiving the feedback

Implementer : being a floor manager who has multiple responsibilities must be aware of implementing different strategies at the required moment (Rahmani et al., 2021). Completer : after implementing any strategy or idea within the organisation I should learn and assure completing it at the expected deadline Specialist : being a specialist is something that makes me perfect with all essential skills to undertake all the organisational activities successfully. Targeted industry To learn and experience I have targeted a multinational industry operating its organisational activities globally and providing products and services related to finance and risk management where I am willing to work as Floor Manager where I require some specific kind of leadership and managerial skills. There are different kinds of skills showing leadership and managerial skills during different situations within the organisation where being Floor manager I will be expected to manage all such activities effectively, some will have a positive effect while some might result in loss or failure, being Floor manager I have to stay prepared to face the uncertain risk or unavoidable issues that can badly affect organisation and motivation level of my team. (Ivanova et al., 2020) Being a Floor Manager of Deloitte, Global Company I am expected to have knowledge of the international market and whatever can cause or lead to system or operation failure because this job role is something that requires proper concentrate and experience with suitable skills and strengths. To be a successful Floor manager I require patience along with a suitable set of skills because that will help me in analysing myself through self-awareness activities. Self- awareness is the key to success as this helps in analysing one's strengths and weaknesses to work on them so that they can benefit in the workplace and career growth. Analysing myself through self-awareness activities helped me in identifying my strength and weaknesses to overcome my weaknesses and benefit in the workplace. This analysis also helped me in analysing my teams' strengths and weaknesses reflecting through their skills so that they can be given required training to motivate and develop their strength and overcome weaknesses. Let’s see some skills or strengths that I possess or I should possess to have better career development within Deloitte while performing as Floor manager:
Flexible : successful manager is someone who understands that different situation requires different skills and possess different leadership skills to lead a team and organisation effectively in a different situation. Being a flexible manager makes me more productive and comfortable with upgraded technologies, methods and ways of development. Reliability : it is essential to make sure that the team working on the floor is reliable with their task and meet their deadlines for this floor manager needs to be reliable because team members usually rely upon their manager for support and guidance. Being reliable a manager becomes more confident. Problem-solving : being floor manager of Deloitte it is a priority to learn to manage problems and risks in time before they affect business activities or organisational motives. This strength helps me make new ideas with traditional approaches to help the organisation grow in the global market with new ideas. Communication : this skill or say strength is taken as the most important skill because this helps in balancing and organising all other strengths and skills or overcoming weaknesses. Communication helps in sharing ideas and information required to operate an organisation or accomplish a piece of work assigned by the company. Communication is essential from the very initial stage to ensure that the decided activity or strategy meet the organisational objective. Participative and evaluator : being Floor manager I am assigned to look after all the on- floor activities and ensure that they met company norms for that purpose I have to be participative with the employees to understand how they work and manage so that their evaluation can be performed according to the efforts made for the assigned task, this way required development programs and training is provided. Openness : manager is someone who is expected to have all the required information and data required within the organisation or self-development because the manager is someone whom team members blindly follow that's why being open to the society and nearby environment can surely help a manager in achieving organisational goal. This shows the passionate nature of the manager that I am flexible to explore and experience more (Shapovalov et al., 2019). Confident and broad-minded : being floor manager within Deloitte where risk is analysed over financial operations is becomes essential to stay broad-minded and confident towards the strategies planned and decisions are taken because if the manager is
Based on my self-analysis, I have realized some areas for development that need to be improved and developed to attain the position of floor manager at a big MNC like Deloitte. Being a floor manager, an individual must possess multiple kinds of skills and knowledge to successfully justify the job role. The first area of development that has been identified by my self-analysis is the development of interpersonal skills. Interpersonal skills are very important in the job role of floor manager. To have effective and efficient interpersonal communication ensures addressing the needs and problems that can arise in the workplace. Interpersonal skills are the tactics and behaviour possessed by a person for doing communicating and interacting with others effectively. This is the skill that reflects the ability of an employee to work well with others. Interpersonal skill ranges from communication and listening to deportment and attitude. I have analysed that I am not confident enough to do communicate effectively with others. Therefore I need to work on developing these skills to ensure success as a floor manager. I can improve my interpersonal skills by observing the other people who are successfully interacting with others like colleagues, clients, customers and managers. The second way to improve this skill is to brainstorm the methods to practice my abilities and skills. Self-awareness will play a vital role in improving my interpersonal skills ( Kelly, 2022). Because being aware of my non-verbal communication and emotions can significantly improve my interpersonal skills. The second area of development that needs to be considered as a floor manager by me is the development of Adaptive skills. Adaptive skills allow an individual to change and grow at the workplace. Based on the self-analysis, I have realized that I do not possess adaptive skills as I am not able to handle criticism, solve issues and work within a team which all are very essential for a floor manager. Being a floor manager, I must be able to receive feedback from an open mind and heart to improve upon weak areas. I must also be able to solve the problems of my team members. So, this issue must be addressed to be successful in my career and to become a successful floor manager. The first step is to ask for feedback from our trusted people in the surroundings and work upon them. The adaptive skills can be developed by maintaining a positive attitude and being open to listening and observing more (Gollin, 2018).
The third area of development that must be considered by me is the ability to delegate job responsibilities. Delegation is the skill that ensures the shifting of the responsibility and authority for particular tasks, functions or decisions from one person to another. I have realized that I do not possess delegation skills that is the most important skill for a floor manager. A floor manager must be able to delegate the responsibility and authority to the immediate team members. I need to improve this skill because it would help me to prioritize time and tasks effectively and to be a successful floor manager. The communication with the team members will help to understand their specialised area that would help in delegating relevant tasks. I can learn delegation skills by knowing the goals and strengths of the team. The development of patience can also be another way for the development of delegation skills (CMI, 2022). Introduction: Leadership is a quality that gives you an edge over others. Some people are known to be born leaders. The quality runs in their family; it is in their genes. Others are inspired by such people and work upon embedding this quality. Some fail at achieving it others are successful in attaining it through continual efforts. While leadership is a powerful quality, leaders possess various other qualities in addition to it that makes for their popularity.
It is suggested to hone it further in order to take your career in the right direction and also to be an inspiration for those around you. However, before you go ahead and hone your skills, it is imperative to understand the different types of leadership styles.
Types of Leadership Styles –
- Democratic Leadership: The subordinates are a part of the decision-making process in this type of leadership. This kind of leadership focuses on the contributions of the subordinates; however, the final accountability of their decisions and actions is that of the leader. This is considered to be one of the most preferred leadership styles.
- Transformational Leadership: This type of leadership is about inculcating change in oneself, group members, organization as well as other factors impacting the performance to enhance the same. A transformational leader inspires others by setting higher goals and motivating them to increase productivity.
- Team Leadership: A team leader involves his team wholly in the project at hand. The leader inspires his team to work hard and together they work to achieve the set goals and evolve the members professionally.
- Strategic Leadership: It involves a leader who is basically the head of a firm but one who does not only shares ideas with the top management. He is involved with the entire team at all the levels. He is known to bridge the gap between the requirement for new possibilities and the need for realism.
- Autocratic Leadership: This type of leadership style focuses on the boss. Here, the leader holds all the authority. He takes decisions solely at his discretion without consulting his team. He communicates the same to his team and expects immediate implementation. He is also the one who is held responsible for his decisions. There is no flexibility here. This kind of leadership has often been criticized.
- Visionary Leadership: This type of leader recognizes the talent and need of his team members. He sets forth a vision of success and the collective efforts required to achieve the desired results.
- Coaching Leadership: A coaching leader constantly guides and supervises his team members to enhance performance. He motivates his team members and encourages them to work harder. This style of leadership has received immense appreciation.
- Facilitative Leadership: A facilitative leader helps his team members run the process efficiently by giving them directions from time to time. This is in case his team is low functioning. In case, it is a high functioning team then this leader employs a light-handed approach.
- Cross-Cultural Leadership: This type of leadership exists when one is to deal with people from different cultural backgrounds. Many leaders working in different organizations in the United States are cross-cultural because people from different cultures are employed there.
- Laissez-Faire Leadership: In this type of leadership, the team members are given authority. They are given the opportunity to work at their discretion with almost no interference from the leader. It is not considered to be an effective leadership style.
- Transactional Leadership: This type of leadership includes an exchange process. The team members here are awarded prompt tangible rewards for implementing the leader’s ideas and decisions correctly.
- Charismatic Leadership: This kind of leader invests time to transform his followers believes, values and behavior to bring out the best in them.
Qualities of a Good Leader –
Here are the five main qualities of a good leader:
- Honesty: Honesty is one of the main qualities of a leader. A leader leads by example. So, if you want your team to look up to you, have faith in your ideologies and follow fair means in the tasks you assign them, it is imperative for you to be honest yourself. A deceitful person may attract people by way of manipulation; however, he will soon lose his credibility.
- Communication: A leader does not think of himself as superior to you and thus does not believe in maintaining a distance. He rather ensures a flow of two-way communication to share ideas, discuss issues and maintain a cordial relation.
- Self-Confidence: The level of self-confidence leaders possess is impeccable. They are sure about themselves and know exactly how to put their point across to inspire their audience. Good leaders also have confidence in their team.
- Transparency: Good leaders do not hide facts or plays games. They maintain transparency while dealing in both personal and professional relationships. This is one of their traits for which they are highly trusted and respected.
- Patience: A person who is impatient loses temper frequently and can never qualify to be a good leader. Possessing patience is one of the main keys to becoming a good leader. Only if a person is a patient can he understand the mistakes of others and help them evolve.
Conclusion: If you possess leadership qualities, you may take up the role of a leader. While you should be comfortable handling this position if you have the required qualities; however, beware about the downside of the same before you make your final decision.

Leadership Essay for Students and Children
500+ words essay on leadership.
First of all, Leadership refers to the quality of leading people. Probably, it is one of the most important aspects of life. Above all, Leadership has led to the progress of human civilization . Without good Leadership, no organization or group can succeed. Furthermore, not everyone has this quality. This is because effective Leadership requires certain important characteristics.
Qualities of a Good Leader
First of all, confidence is the most quality. A leader must have strong self-confidence. A person lacking in confidence can never be a good leader. A person must be confident enough to ensure others follow him. The leader must have confidence in his decisions and actions. If he is unsure, then how can people have the desire to follow him.
A good leader must certainly inspire others. A leader must be a role model for his followers. Furthermore, he must motivate them whenever possible. Also, in difficult situations, a leader must not lose hope. How can a leader inspire people if he himself is hopeless?
Honesty is another notable quality of a leader. Honesty and Integrity are important to earn the love of followers. Above all, honesty is essential to win the trust of the people. Probably, every Leadership which loses trust is bound to fail. People will not work with full effort due to an immoral leader.
