San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City Information Technology Department CHAPTER I BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Introduction
The society has been dramatically changed with the evolution of technology; everything is so fast paced that technology has improved a lot to keep up with the needs of humans. From manual to more advanced system that brings convenience and comfortable lifestyle to the people. Due to the convenience and efficiency provided by technology, our lives have improved significantly. Today, online transaction is a very common way to easily negotiate with other people without having physical contact. Especially today that the world is facing a pandemic, online transaction is the safest and convenient way to transact with other people. Access to education has also been simplified due to the modern-day technology, students can have a variety of learning tools at their fingertips. Online transaction contributed a lot to students since students can easily access their grades, schedules, activities, school announcements, events and learning materials online without a problem.
In National Open University of Nigeria, a study was conducted to develop a web based online registration portal for the students. It aimed to solve the problems of student registration in the university. The specimen developed a web based online student portal using Adobe Dreamweaver PHP for each web page and used MYSQL database to store the information of website. The portal can provide courses and exam information or notification anytime to the students if there are any rapid changes with

their schedules. It also makes the information and services easily accessible to the students. A university in the Philippines, Surigao del Sur State University, created an online student portal with grade notifications via SMS. The specimen created the system to answer the problem of the students and that is the time-consuming process on getting their grades and class schedule. The system raises the availability of student records like grades, finances/accounts, and class schedule (Badoria, et al., 2020).
The specimen mentioned above provide evidence to their use technology to be efficient and convenient. Quezon City University formerly known Quezon City Polytechnic University was created on March 1, 1994. Through the years, the system of Quezon City University somehow improved but still lacked because of the growing number of students every year. To lessen the hassle of students of getting their grades, schedules, and activities due to long line of people every end of the semester.
The proponents proposed online student portal to provide an efficient and convenient process to the students of QCU. The proponents wanted to produce a student portal to create a new student experience where they can track their grades, schedules, activities, school events and can easily access all the downloadable materials that will help the students to maximize their learnings.

EFFECTIVENESS OF STUDENT PORTALS IN PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES, A CASE STUDY OF MOUNT KENYA UNIVERSITY
2019, Halfwave Studios
A student web portal is normally referred to us when a student accesses his or her files authorized to them through the main school’s website, this in turn helps the student not go to school and just access it from there desired places. Adoption of student web portals brings upon the easier connection between the university and the student, thus growing an endless connection between them. The main data from the study will be collected from questionnaires and interviews carried out by the researcher, this will give the researcher ample data to decode and come up with a representation of it.

Most Ghanaian polytechnic institutions are not running online education. Koforidua Polytechnic is among the ten (10) polytechnics in Ghana with a distinguishing feature of an online educational portal. The portal is being underutilized and it is in view of this that the research was conducted. This study examined how students, lecturers and administrators perceive the quality and reliability of the polytechnic’s online educational portal and the challenges faced using it. Descriptive survey method was used with stratified random sampling. Self-administered questionnaires were completed by 110 respondents. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Microsoft’s Office Excel was used to analyze the data gathered. It is observed that the portal is a very good platform that can help in facilitating teaching, learning and the day-to-day running of the polytechnic. Another relevant issue which was raised by the students was the fact that online portal enables busy fulltime workers to be able to combine working and learning. It was also observed that the online portal is still underutilized by students, lecturers and administrators. This study recommends that there must be a policy to use the portal as a channel for communication, learning and teaching. Training should also be organized for all staff on the use of the portal. Resources needed for the portal to function well must also be available. Future research needs to be done in the area of Eduportals in other institutions, involving a larger learner population. Keywords: online education; educational portal; stratified random sampling; workers; communication

The impact of Information Technology (IT) has continued to increase in all aspects of our lives; there has been increasing interest in research on the factors that explain user acceptance of new technology. Venkatesh combined eight of the most popular models to formulate a new model, called the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), which since then has become one of the most prominent models. This paper tries to validate a modified UTAUT model for the Bayero University, Kano. Students' registration portal which every university student has to use at the beginning of every academic session was used to test the model. Three hundred and sixty eight valid questionnaires were used to validate research model which comprises five constructs in the modified model namely: performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE), social influence (SI), facilitating conditions (FC) and anxiety (AX). In order to evaluate the internal consistency, convergence and discernments validity, confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) is run on the measurement model and the values of Average Variance Extracted (AVE), Composite Reliability (ρc), and Cronbach's Alpha (CA) are found to be satisfactory. The data collected is analyzed using structural equation modeling techniques. Three major constructs of the model-performance expectancy (PE), effort expectancy (EE) and social influence (SI)-are found to be insignificant determinants of registration portal usage, showing that there are a number of systems that may neither fit into the UTAUT nor UTAUT2 models because of their special characteristics.
Abstract- One of the important services that universities currently depend on is a student portal where Students can check information related to their study and affairs. With the increasing uptake of websites by universities, competition is no longer limited to physical campuses but has also shifted online, where each university seeks to create a high quality website. Online promotion and communication is even more important for African universities, which are spread on large territories, as it presents an opportunity for them to promote their existence and achievements, collaborate with other institutions, and deliver online education to students. Challenges facing Africa’s higher education institutions include: cultural differences, funding problems, language issues, and governance problems. In this paper we present the results of the evaluation of the website quality of three representative Kenyan universities. The study is based on an evaluation framework derived from a meta-model based on 7 dimensions. An in-depth evaluation was carried out using surveys, inspective analysis and automated tools. Results highlighted a number of critical issues and gave important suggestions for the improvement of the Masinde Muliro University (MMUST) website.
Readers of Kālidāsa's Abhijñānaśakuntala will remember the scene in which King Duṣyanta, in hot pursuit of an deer, is stopped by the following words (in the translation of Michael Coulson): "No, no Your Majesty! Don't kill him, he's a deer of the hermitage." (bho bho rājan āśramamṛgo 'yaṃ na hantavyo na hantavyaḥ). It turns out that Duṣyanta, without realizing it, has come close to the āśrama, here translated hermitage, of Kaṇva where, we learn from these words, deer cannot be killed. The King is subsequently invited to visit the āśrama, and he does not fail to recognize the signs:
